A simple yet considered lakeside retreat at Hauparu Bay for a valued repeat client, thoughtfully designed for relaxed outdoor living and boat life on Lake Rotoiti. Crafted from locally sourced timber and carefully set within the bush, the home opens generously to the water while settling quietly into its natural surroundings. A place shaped by landscape, lifestyle and a deep respect for place.
A singular, efficient form with a carefully calibrated roof pitch enables the garage to accommodate the full height of the wake boat without lowering its tower. This pragmatic move generates a series of sloping planes across each elevation, giving the building a dynamic yet restrained architectural expression. The exterior is clad in black-stained Abodo timber, sourced from the nearby Kaingaroa Forest, grounding the home in its regional context and reinforcing a quiet presence within the landscape.
Living spaces are oriented toward expansive views across Lake Rotoiti, with engineered corner sliding doors allowing the main living area to open completely to a covered deck. The result is a seamless indoor–outdoor environment attuned to the rhythms of lake life.
